The Workbook to Deutsche Grammatik

A1–B1 · Practice

This workbook walks in step with Deutsche Grammatik: How German Sentences Work. Each chapter here practises exactly one chapter there, under the same number and the same title, so you can move between the two books without a map.

Every chapter follows the same rhythm. A green card at the top restates the rule in a few lines, for reference rather than teaching. Then come about ten exercises, arranged from recognising to producing. Warm-ups you can tick, drills that fix the forms, sentences to build, mistakes to hunt, a few lines to translate, and at the end some ruled lines for writing of your own. One exercise near the end of each chapter mixes in grammar from earlier chapters, because German never asks for one rule at a time.

After every few chapters a review section pulls the threads together, and the two tests at the end rehearse the A2 and B1 exam formats. The answer key at the back gives every solution in full sentences wherever word order matters. Write in the book. That is what it is for.
